在英文中如果一次要講兩個句子，第一句表達主要意思(主句), 另外一句接著說明內容，作為接受主句這件事或動作的對象，也就是受詞, 這個句子就是名詞子句。以下這幾種語義並有底線的句子皆歸類為名詞子句 : 名詞子句

1. (以疑問詞 what/when/where/ why/how + 主詞 + 動詞) 連結主句

I don’t know what you said.
我不知道你說什麼

Could you tell me where the bus stop is ?
可否請你告訴我公車站在哪 ?

We wonder why Sandy didn’t come.
我們在想為何Sandy沒有來

2. (以 whether / if + 主詞 + 動詞) 連結主句

We are not sure whether it’s true or not.
我們不確定那是否是真的

They asked me whether I was interested in working for them.
他們問我是否有興趣為他們工作

Jane can’t decide whether she should go or stay home.
Jane 無法決定是否要出去或留在家

3. (以 that +主詞 + 動詞) 連結主句

I think that most people have kind hearts.
我認為大部分人心地善良

I’m glad that you’re feeling better today.
我很高興你今天覺得好多了

They believe that Linda told the truth.
他們相信Linda說了實話
