1. day job : 正職、主要收入來源、擅長的事

Don’t give up your day job.

不要放棄你的主要工作 ( 勸人不要好高鶩遠，追逐不切實際的夢想 )

Gardening is my day job.

園藝是我的正職工作

2. day off : 休息日、休假

I won’t be here on Friday. It’s my day off.

我星期五不在，那天我休假

Mark is taking three days off next week.

Mark下週休假 3 天

3. the other day : 幾天前、前幾天

I met Kate at a coffee shop the other day.

我前幾天在咖啡館和Kate碰面

It’s really hot the other day.

前幾天真的好熱

4. day after day : 日復一日，每天

I am tired of doing the same thing day after day.

我厭倦了每天做同樣的事

The same problem keeps coming up day after day.

相同的問題日復一日地出現

5. day by day : 漸漸地、越來越…；日復一日、每天

My father is getting better day by day.

我父親的健康狀況一天一天地好起來

Andrew is growing taller day by day.

Andrew一天天長得越來越高

6. day in day out : 一天接一天、日復一日

I have to do the same jobs day in day out.

我必須日復一日做著相同的工作

The old man walks his dog day in day out.

7. day and night : 日夜、日以繼夜

Jerry works day and night in order to support his family.

8. the old days : 舊日時光、過往

My father likes to talk about life in the old days.

9. in those days : 以前、過往

Many people married young in those days.

Women were not allowed to vote in those days.

10. at the end of the day : 終究、到頭來、最後、總而言之

At the end of the day, it’s my job to solve this problem.

11. something’s/somebody’s days are numbered : 來日不多

If Dave doesn’t get this contract, his days are numbered at this company.

如果Dave沒有到這張合約，他在這公司就待不久了

My cell phone’s days are numbered because the battery doesn’t last an hour.

我的手機來日不多了，因為電池撐不到1個小時

12. make somebody’s day : 讓人很開心很高興

Tell David the good news. It will make his day.

去告訴David這好消息，這會讓他很開心
